A Message from oFarm:

Welp there goes another week and we are already at the end of October!! It's so wild to think that we only have like 4-5 weeks left on the farm site. Got our 35 ton load of compost delivered this past week, so my gurl D and I are gonna flex on these kitties and build out as many beds as possible. The goal is for that whole load of compost to go away before we tuck the farm in for the big sleep. Y'all want in on this Kalshi if we make it or not??

As promised...there's some red sunflowers available in the shop this week, just in time for Samhain! Hopefully y'all have your altars ready and set up with all the gifts and treats for the lost loved ones <3

Until next time!

xoxo

Pawpaws are America’s largest indigenous fruit, primarily found on the eastern coast of North America. A member of the custard-apple family, pawpaws are a delicate, green skinned fruit with several large, lima bean shaped seeds. Pawpaws have a tropical, funky, custardy flavor that intensifies as they ripen. Some some they taste like a cross between banana, mango, and pineapple. The skins and seeds are not edible and must be discarded. Cooking the flesh of the pawpaw lessens the tropical flavors and can be enjoyed fresh as well.

Please enjoy immediately as they tend to have a short shelf life!

Check out Pawpaws from Seedling in our add-on shop!

Storage Tip - Keep cool, dry and out of direct light, on your counter, in a cupboard or in a perforated paper bag for up to 6 months.

Kale - Family Farm Fresh Co-op (Rockville, IN)
Storage Tip - Make sure greens are good and dry. Either loosen or remove the rubber band. You can wrap the greens in a paper or cloth towel to cut down on extra moisture. Then store in a plastic bag in the fridge for up to a week. Or keep in a glass of water like a bouquet!

Leeks - Happy Valley Farm (Black Earth, WI), Down at the Farms (Fairbury, IL), Frillman Farms (Berrien Springs, MI)

Storage Tip - Remove greens to preserve the root longer. Greens can be used within a week and the carrot itself can be stored in the crisper in a plastic bag for a few weeks.

Apples - Mick Klug Farm (St. Joseph, MI)
Storage Tip - Keep at a consistent temperature on the counter for up to a week, or in the crisper for up to a month.

Bok Choy - The Urban Canopy (Auburn Gresham, Chicago, IL)
Storage Tip - Store in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator -- unwashed and in a perforated plastic bag -- and use within a few days. When you do use it, remember that its cluster of stalks hides dirt, so wash it well.

Zucchini - Family Farm Fresh Co-op (Rockville, IN)
Storage Tip - Store freshly picked, unwashed zucchini in a plastic bag in the refrigerator for up to one week. The bag should be perforated or loosely tied, not sealed tightly. Do not cut the zucchini until you are ready to use it.

Pro-Tip for Produce Longevity

When your share arrives, immediately unpack your produce and move into proper storage containers!

Always Wash Before Eating

As a general best practice with all produce including ours, we recommend washing produce before eating.

Please Remember to Save and Return LUCSA Packaging

We request that you return your wax box and Finn’s Ranch egg cartons during your next delivery. Help practice sustainability by helping us re-use all of these items for future deliveries.

We’re unfortunately not able to re-use; non-Finn’s egg cartons, rubber bands, bags, berry containers or glass jars.
