LUCSA Coordinator
Job Summary:
The Urban Canopy is a diverse organization working on cutting edge issues at the intersection of urban agriculture and sustainable food systems. We are seeking a skilled LUCSA Coordinator to help support our vision: to create a sustainable and equitable food system by way of environmental stewardship, local job creation, healthy-living initiatives, and community building.
The LUCSA branch plays a key role in achieving our vision by supporting farms and local food producers throughout the Midwest and in the Chicagoland area with door-to-door multi-season CSA supplying members per season. As LUCSA continues to expand and Crew becomes more knowledgeable and experienced, we want to provide new opportunities for leadership. The LUCSA Coordinator will play a vital role in overseeing crew as they prep and pack each week, including overseeing the weekly prep/pack plan, receiving deliveries and setting up/breaking down the space. They will support the team with loading out vehicles for deliveries. Additionally, the LUCSA Coordinator will get to exercise their creativity by writing the weekly newsletter for our members.
Duties and Responsibilities (Urban Canopy vehicle provided):
Manage LUCSA Prep/Pack operations
Prepare and maintain spaces for prep and pack operations
Manage inventory of goods and maintain quality assurance standards
Coordinate with vendors for receiving product and returning supplies
Problem solve last minute adjustments to share plans and help create resilient planning systems
Improve operational management systems, processes and best practices
Accurately pack meats into coolers for each delivery route of the week
Supports the team to ensure the efficient load out of vehicles each day that we have deliveries
Available to fill in for all LUCSA Crew member roles including prep/pack and transportation. (Coordinators are prioritized for filling in on operational roles, including taking routes)
Lead LUCSA Crew in prep/pack operations
Effectively communicate with LUCSA Crew, including speaking, writing and active listening
Able to give and receive feedback and constructive criticism from a variety of channels including Leads and Crew
Administrative responsibilities
Write the weekly newsletter that gets sent out to LUCSA members on Friday with information about what to be expected in the following weeks shares ( finding recipes, highlighting vendors, helpful tips or educational information, occasionally taking photos of products to feature on the newsletter or social media posts)
Computer efficiency (Squarespace, Google Drive, Gmail)
Printing/adjusting routing information pertaining to Prep/Pack operations (in the event a LUCSA Lead is absent)*
Communicating effectively with other LUCSA admin to coordinate completion of tasks relating to urgent routing adjustments or customer service issues (in the event a LUCSA Lead is absent)*
Qualifications:
Must have a valid driver’s license
Be able to lift 50 lbs
Punctual, effective and clear communicator
Positive work ethic, able to work in a team and independently
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle moderate amounts of uncertainty
Broader interest in sustainability and food
Comfortable working in a high speed environment and able to multitask multiple assignments with a high degree of detail.
Computer skills: Google Docs Suite and MS Office
Scheduling Information:
This year-round position constitutes 32 hours of work per week.
Additional Information:
Wage ranges from $19.00 to $21.00 per hour.
Paid Time Off (PTO) earned at a rate of 1 hour per 20 hours of paid work.
401k plan options.
Maternity/Parental Leave after one year.
